You can make glass in Minecraft by smelting blocks of sand. Stitched glass can also be created by mixing glass with any color of dye. You can combine glass with other objects to make glass bottles, beacons, and many other things.

Building a Minecraft house requires more than just building blocks, such as stone and wood. A house is complete without windows. Glass is the best option.

It takes very little to make glass in Minecraft. And there are many ways you can use it. Here’s how it works.

How to make glass in Minecraft

You will need sand, a furnace and any type of smelting gas to make a block glass.

You can find sand in the desert, on any beach, and underwater in rivers and oceans. To make a furnace, fill the edges of a crafting table with cobblestone. You can use charcoal, coal, a bucket full of lava, or any other wood fuel to make a furnace.

Once you have everything, fire up the furnace. Next, place your sand in top slot. It will heat for a while, then give you one piece.

This is a complete block of glass that is the same size as any other blocks. You can also choose a pane of glass, which is a flat slab that looks more like a window. However, this will require a little more crafting.

Open your crafting table, and fill the two bottom rows with glass blocks. This will produce 16 glass panes.

And if you want stained glass, like you might see at a church or monument, you’ll need some dye. Place any color dye into the middle slot of your crafting board and surround it by glass blocks. Eight stained glass blocks will result, each one matching the dye used.

For stained glass panes, fill two rows below the crafting table with matching stained blocks. 16 stained glass panes will be produced.

What glass can be used for in Minecraft

Windows are the most common use of glass in Minecraft. Glass blocks and panes almost completely transparent and don’t block sunlight like other solid blocks.

Glass floors are often made by players in high towers or other structures so that they can see all below them.

Glass can also serve as a crafting material for other items.

If you place three blocks of glass in a V-shape on your crafting table, you’ll make three glass bottles. These are required to brew potions.

Two pieces of tinted glasses are created by surrounding a glass block with four amethyst fragments. These glass blocks are opaque but block out light.

Combining five glass blocks, obsidian, and a Nether Star will give you a beacon. This powerful item is capable of buffing any player in the vicinity.

Seven glass blocks combined with an Eye of Ender and a ghast tear makes an end crystal, a glowing orb that can heal and respawn the Ender Dragon, the game’s final boss.

Finally, for players who love making redstone machines, combining three pieces each of glass, nether quartz, and wooden slabs gives you a daylight detector. These machines work in the same way as solar panels and emit a redstone signal when they are hit by sunlight.
